And suddenly you were so tall
Or your excited eyes waiting to catch the ball

Taken Too Soon
Several months ago, Judy asked how Chopper died:
Chopper was wearing his favorite collar, with his jingling dog tags attached to the chrome ring, and his matching "BAD TO THE BONE" black and white leash. And he was wearing a brand new purple mesh body harness, of which I cut the tags off that morning.
Chopper was eagerly awaiting the hike, standing proud, on all four feet, with the loop of his leash, for a moment, in the hands of K.A.R. of Fairfield, California, a United States Coast Guard Veteran.
(I met K.A.R. on Friday, June 29, 2012, at a CreekWalk Concert in Vacaville, California at Andrews Park.)
(Chopper met K.A.R. on Sunday, July 22, 2012, at a Summer BBQ Party in Vacaville at my mom and dad's house.)
On Friday, February 8, 2013, Chopper's head and neck were in the mouth of Jinx, an unknown dog, the same color as Chopper; but, 113 pounds heavier and stronger than Chopper ...
During the deadly attack, Chopper bled out ...
In an instant, he was gone forever ...
I collapsed in the parking lot.
At 47 years old, worst day of my life ...

It's been ten years since I lost Chopper. I wanted to make sure he knew that he's in our thoughts and in our hearts during this time. I think of that day and Chopper often and I'm wishing him peace and strength. Chopper died instantly, in a standing position, at the hands of another. Thank you for honoring my sweet little protector. He gave his life for me. An extended thank you goes out to the Solano County Sheriff Department.
