GILMER - Graveside services for Maggie Rene Cavazos, 94, of Gilmer, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview, with the Rev. Billy C. Foote officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer.

Mrs. Cavazos passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, in Longview.

Mrs. Cavazos was born March 30, 1913, to Alonzo and Maggie Head in Cumby, in the Friendship Community of Hunt County. She had her own hosiery repair business at the H.L. Green Department Store for a number of years in downtown Dallas. Rene was a longtime member of the Casa View Baptist Church in Dallas. For the past two years, she had been a resident of Pine Tree Nursing Home in Longview.

Rene was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred O. Cavazos in January of 2004; two brothers; and four sisters.

Mrs. Cavazos is survived by her son, Billy C. Foote and his wife, Winky; grandchildren, Billy James Foote and his wife, Cindy, and Wendy Tompkins and her husband, Robbie; great-grandchildren, Brooke Alexandria Tompkins and Libby Song Foote; and brothers, Herman Head and Edward Head.
