Clarence E. Wallace, 94, of Appleton passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2016. Clarence was born on January 18, 1922 to Patrick and Theresa (Fischer) Wallace. He was the youngest of 10 children and grew up in Freedom, WI. Clarence attended the Woodside (one-room) School House, St. Nicholas grade school and Freedom High School.

Clarence was proud to have served his country in WWII as a combat infantryman with the 4th Division of the U.S. Army. He served in the European Theater and received the Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star and Purple Heart (for the injuries incurred while fighting in the battle of the Hurtgen Forest).

Clarence utilized the GI Bill to attain an education in accounting and opened his own accounting business. On June 19, 1948 he married Dolores (Dell) Lynch at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly. They began their life together in Appleton where they raised their 7 children. Clarence's first love was his wife and family. He and Dell created many happy family memories with numerous gatherings and family trips. The annual family ski weekend and times together at Legend Lake were particularly special. They were always available to their children and 26 grandchildren. Faithful, loving, humble, gentleman, integrity, intelligent and generous are some words that describe Clarence.

Clarence and his brother-in-law, Jack Lynch, founded Presto Products, Inc. in Appleton in the early 1960s. As Chief Financial Officer for 23 years, Clarence's skills and wisdom were an important component to the success of the company. Clarence always admired and cherished his friendship with Jack and the leadership and vision he provided as the Chief Executive Officer. They and the rest of the executive team at Presto created a family atmosphere.

Clarence and Dolores were members of St. Therese parish for many years and St. Thomas More parish for the past 40 years. Clarence was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He served as a board member of Xavier High School, Goodwill Industries, Appleton Memorial Hospital and the Xavier High School Foundation. He was a trustee of St. Thomas More Parish and the ACES/Xavier Educational System and a SCORE mentor. They had spent many of their retirement years giving back to their community while supporting numerous charities. They were especially committed to Xavier High School and enjoyed many creative productions in the Fine Arts Center for which they provided the funds to build. They were founding members of the Community Foundation of the Fox Valley Region, establishing funds to support operational and tuition assistance to the Xavier Catholic Schools.

Clarence is survived by his 7 children: Kathleen Marie (William) Zelensky of Vadnais Heights, MN; Mary Patricia (Nicholas) Heinritz of Appleton; Joan Ann (Thomas) Lindsay of Glenview, IL; Amy Louise (Daniel) Argall of Cedarburg, WI; James Patrick (Shawn) Wallace of Appleton; David John Wallace of Appleton, and Brian Robert (Catherine) Wallace of Appleton. He is also survived by his 26 grandchildren: Dawn, Zeb, Megan, Hans, Tony, Andrew, Eva, Katie, Laura, Brenna, Alyssa, Evan, Lacey, Claire, Jonathan, Brigitte, Melissa, Patrick, Molly, Collin, Abby, Maggie, Kieran, Charissa, Aidan, and Tessa; his 18 great-grandchildren; his brother-in-law, Robert (Mary) Lynch; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores.
