MAHONEY, Estelle Bridget Estelle was born on April 15, 1918, at home in Cazenovia, Minnesota. She was the youngest of six children born to Bridget (McLaughlin) and Martin Byrne. She moved to Glendale, California, and married Clair Mahoney, whom she had known in South Dakota. Estelle had two children, Jaclyn and John. Clair worked for Lockheed in Burbank and chose to transfer to Palmdale. Estelle started teaching in Palmdale
and received her Bachelor of Arts degree and teaching credential from Cal State Northridge. Estelle retired from the Palmdale School District in 1980, and moved to Placerville where she lived out the rest of her years. Estelle was preceded in death by her husband, Clair, and she will be buried with him at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Palmdale. She is survived by her daughter, Jaclyn M. Hagen of El Dorado, California, and her son, John F. Mahoney and wife Joanie of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Her grandchildren are Carrie Hagen Barcia and husband Tony, Lana Mahoney and Eric Ream, Molly Hagen, and Nick Mahoney. Estelle is blessed to have two great-grandchildren, Jordan Ream and Lindsey Barcia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A funeral will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Placerville on Tuesday, January 29, 2008. She will be buried at Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Palmdale at 1 p.m., Thursday, January 31, 2008.
