Mary Catherine BOYKIN was born in July of 1850, the daughter of John Baptist BOYKIN & Mary Jane ARCHER . She was the widow of Thomas Henry SHEPPARD. They were the parents of seven children, born 1872-1892:

• Leah Bell SHEPPARD OVERSTREET,
• Elouise W. SHEPPARD STEPHENS, "Weesie",
• Nina Letitia SHEPPARD BOYKIN, "Neshie",
• Elizabeth SHEPPARD PRYOR, "Bessie",
• Sallie SHEPPARD (who died as an infant),
• Joseph Henry SHEPPARD, "Joe", and
• Thomas Watson SHEPPARD.
