Juanita Fay Franklin, daughter of Otto L. and Laura J. Jones Appling, was born March 20, 1918, near Sleeper, Missouri. She departed this life Sunday, January 18, 2004, in St. John's Hospital - Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, nine months, and twenty-eight days.
On February 21, 1948, she was united in marriage to Lester Allen Franklin, and together they shared fifty-one years before his passing on January 25, 1999.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Glenn Appling, her triplet brother and sister, and another infant brother.

Juanita is survived by two daughters, Charlene Bechtel, and her husband, Roy, of Lebanon, Missouri, and JoAnn Scurlock, and her husband, Alvin, of Springfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Kim Russell, and her husband, Doug, and Greg Bechtel, and his wife, Tammie, all of Lebanon, Missouri, Kevin Scurlock, and his wife, LeeAnn, and Karena Warren, and her husband, Gerald, all of Springfield, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, John, Jason and Jordan Russell, Ryne and Abbie Bechtel, all of Lebanon, Missouri, Keegan and Katie Scurlock, and Kelsea Warren, all of Springfield, Missouri; a brother, Clyde Appling, and his wife, Freeda, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

She lived most of her life in the Lebanon area, where she and Lester lovingly raised their daughters. Besides being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, she also worked for the Rice-Stix Factory for ten years.
Juanita was baptized early in her life and followed the Baptist faith throughout the years.

In her spare time she enjoyed camping at Roaring River State Park, sewing, quilting, embroidering, and attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Her family was very important to her and she especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Juanita was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments, and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for us.

Services will be at 11:00A.M., Tuesday, January 20, 2004 in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the the Mount Rose Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening from 7 - 8:00 under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
