Courtney Gandy, 86, of Hortense, Georgia entered peacefully into eternal rest on Saturday, June 11, 2022 with her family by her side. Courtney was born in Alma, Georgia the daughter of the late Eubanks Waters and the late Roxie Smith Waters. She is also preceded in death by her husband, James Lamar Gandy; and a daughter-in-law, Janice Gandy.
Courtney was retired from Wal-Mart. She was a devoted Christian, loved reading her Bible and singing worship and praise songs to God. She was very involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren where she was always a great influence. She was the matriarch and true anchor of her family and her presence will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish Courtney's many memories are, her four sons, Robert L. Gandy, James D. Gandy and his wife, Iris; Donald M. Gandy and his wife, Tina; and Ronald J. Gandy and his wife, Becky; her twelve grandchildren, Franklin L. Gandy (Pam), James C. Gandy (Shelly), Kaitlyn R. Gandy, Harold D. Gandy, Donald A. Gandy, Holly K. Gandy, Robbie Gandy, April B. Burney (Jeremy), Mike Gandy, Michael C. Burrell, Shelina E. Rogers (James), and Charles Smith (Jody). Nineteen great grandchildren, three great- great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor Courtney's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Under His Wings Christian Fellowship (16 Scattered Pine Rd., Hortense, GA 31543) with Rev. Chad Middleton officiating and also Ashton Ham and Diane Cooler speaking. The burial will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, June 16, 2022 Laurel Hill Cemetery (800 E Jackson St., Thomasville, GA 31792).
