This memorial comes from all of my heart to the everlasting memory of my dear Toby.

With great sadness I announce the death of my sweet, precious, little boy Toby, my little black Shih Tzu, who I shared my life with and was a part of my family for 6 years and 3 months.
( And always will be.)

Toby walked into my life on February 9, 2016, walking up the driveway as I was getting out of my car coming home from work. He walked right up to me, stopped, and looked at me with his beautiful brown eyes, asking if he could come inside and live with me. I immediately took him inside to meet my 2 cats and they all got along great. That started 6 wonderful years together. We were virtually inseparable. Of course I did look for an owner but no one came forward, to my great happiness!

I knew nothing of his past, where he came from or when he was born, but I didn't care. The vet said he was about 5 years old then and was in very good health, other than a heart murmur, and he was already house trained. After he was all vetted and groomed he was the most beautiful boy in the world!

Toby came along in a very dark time in my life. I had lost both my parents,Thomas Lensing and Jean Lensing, and my two babies and best friends,Barkley my Chow Chow/Shepherd cross, who was a member of my family for 15 years (and still is), and Louie, my Toy Poodle, not sure how old he was, but was about 10-12, he was a member my family for 6 years and 7 months (and still is). I lost all four of them within a span of 3 years. In fact, the way Toby came to me so randomly and so beautifully, I knew he was sent by my mom and dad - I always considered him my angel boy because of this. Toby came at just the right time and made my life happy and joyful again.

He was active, loved to play with his toys but for walks, he liked to stop and smell the roses so to speak and I let him. He jumped off the couch to chase his toys and back on it again and we played that for a while. He liked to go outside and sniff. His first trip to a park was a walk at MacArthur Park. We walked around a big pond full of duck and geese He walked so slow around that pond, sniffing and investigating every smell he could. He didn't chase the geese and ducks. He was such a good boy! I also took him to War Memorial Park to walk and Allsop Park too. He went with me everywhere. I bought a booster seat for him to ride in.

My 4 legged family loved him, especially Salem, and the 2 leggeds too. He loved to go to Roland to visit my brother and sister-in-law and run with their dogs. He loved it so much that when I turned off of 300 to Lake Vista and rolled the windows down for him to sniff, he would dance around, put his head out the window and sniff the air, and was the happiest boy. He loved it there.

Some of the sweet names I gave him were Little To, Toster, Little sweetie, and sweet angel.

I let him eat a bit too much and he gained a little weight towards the end. He had Cushing's Disease, that, with his respiratory problems the last year, he was very uncomfortable, but I tried to make it as easy as I could on him. On the last day of his life, his respiratory issues were worse, but I thought he would make it until the following Tuesday when the vet's office opened again, but he did not. It was the Sunday before Memorial Day, 05/29/2022. I was shocked and devastated by his death.

I will always love you Toby, as long as I live! You will be in my heart forever and I miss you every day. It is actually a week since you passed away and I have just gotten to where I can type this. I miss you and love you so much. You were my angel baby, my sweet little boy who I will love forever. We WILL meet again! I know mom, dad, Salem,Barkley, Louie, Hershey, Patrick, Mandy and Deputy, and all the animals I have loved, will keep you company until I get there. Visit me in my dreams... I LOVE YOU FOREVER SWEETHEART!!!
