On the night of November 3, 1900, the death angel visited the home of Brother John McAllister, in Decatur County, Tenn., and took from him his beloved wife. Sister Sarah McAllister was born on October 17, 1860, and was born into the family of God some time during 1886. She obeyed the gospel under the preaching of Brother Sparkman. She was the daughter of Capt. Bob Anderson, of Linden, Tenn., and was married to Brother McAllister about twenty-two years ago. During this union God gave them seven children, all of whom, with her husband, are left to mourn her death. Sister McAllister was by nature of a very cheerful disposition, always looking on the bright side of everything and carrying happiness and sunshine wherever she went. She filled most successfully all the relations of life. Her life was full of good works, and she was as perfectly devoted to the cause of her Master as any one I ever knew, being always at her post of duty as long as she was able. The Bible was her guide in everything; she trained her children by it, and succeeded, for all of them that are old enough are loyal servants of God. Her children loved her devotedly, and ministered cheerfully to all her wants during her long spell of illness. I commend her beautiful life to her children and point them and her husband to the word of God for comfort and consolation. As David said of his child, "I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me," so I say to thee bereaved ones: She cannot return to you, but you can go to her. She will be waiting and watching to welcome you. Be faithful till death and you shall meet her in a home beyond the tomb, where there will be no sad partings. To the friends and loved ones I would say: Weep not as those who have no hope. Your loss is her gain. On November 4, 1900, in the presence of a large and sorrowing concourse of friends and loved ones, Sister McAllister's remains were laid to rest in the burying ground at Denson's Landing, Tenn.
