One of seven members of Bathurst High School Phantoms senior varsity basketball team killed when their van collided with a tractor-trailer in icy driving conditions. A teacher, Beth Lord, wife of the coach/driver also died. Four other passengers survived and were transported to hospital for treatment.
Daniel, age 17, was a Grade 12 student at BHS and wore No. 9 on the boys' basketball team. He also played rugby and loved music, especially his guitar. Standing 6'3" he was known for his big heart and lending a broad shoulder to his friends. He is survived by his parents, brother, many relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held at the KC Irving Civic Centre in Bathurst, New Brunswick on January 16, 2008.
