W. S. Bagby, aged 80, took suddenly worse last Thursday and Friday suffered a stroke of paralysis, which affected his left side and speech, from which he never recovered, dying Wednesday. In the passing of Willis Bagby the family lost a kind, loving husband and father; the church a faithful member, and the community an honorable upright citizen. Besides wife, he leaves five children, two daughters and three sons: Mrs. Charles Harris and Myers Bagby of Chattanooga; Mrs. John Handcock and Will Bagby of Charleston, W. Va., Matt of Williamson, W. Va. Services were held Thursday at the Christian church by Elder F. M. Stambaugh, after which the remains, in charge of Undertaker Plummer, were taken to Siloam to be buried in the family lot. Mr. Bagby had been in declining health for several years, having had several very serious sick spells. For a great many years he was connected with the wharfboat here and later was in business. Some 12 or 15 years ago the family moved to Portsmouth but several years ago came back to this place."
