"Titus Travis, who came here before the Revolutionary war, and was the ancestor of several of the families of that name."

His last name was spelled Traverse in 1790 & 1800 census.

1790 census in Phillipstown, Dutchess Co. (Which later becomes Putnam Co.) NY. 1800 in Carmel, Dutchess Co. Ny. 1820 back in Phillips.

Titus was a soldier in the Revolutionary war from 1775-1783.

Titus younger brother Silvanus born 1-5-1755 & died 2-1-1842 in Lodi, Seneca Co. Ny. was also in the Continental Troops, Hazens Regiment in the Revolutionary War.
