Author. He is perhaps remembered for his penning of the bestselling World War II thriller "The Eagle Has Landed" (1975) which was made into a motion picture adaptation in 1976. Born Henry Patterson, he was raised in Belfast, Ireland and following service with the Royal Horse Guards, he worked as a laborer with the circus, a truck driver and a factory worked prior to attending the University of London from where he received degrees in Sociology, Social Psychology and Economics. In 1959, his first book "Sand Wind from the Sea" was published and during the course of his career, he wrote over 30 novels.
