MAX, Frances "Babe", longtime Valley resident born July 4, 1915, in Palms, Calif. Passed away Jan. 2, 2008, in Lancaster at the age of 92. Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Babe moved to Antelope Valley in 1927, where she lived with her family on an Alfalfa ranch on the Westside of town. Babe worked for the Tom Foley insurance agency and then for the Martin-Pontiac auto dealership where she eventually met and married Phillip Max in 1953. After taking time off to raise a family, she more recently worked for many years at the Lancaster Elks Lodge. She is survived by daughter Sylvia Wada, son Gary Max, sister Juanita Thornburgh, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces. Vigil will be held at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at Mumaw Funeral Home, with Mass being celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Graveside Service will be held at 1 p.m., at the Good Shepard Catholic Cemetery.
