1998 Apr 13 - Cadillac - Roy Devere Anderson was born Wednesday 15 Oct 1924 in White Sands to Walter R & Helen A (Franklin) Anderson. He married Delcie Nelson Monday 16 Jun 1952 in Cadillac. He lived all of his life in the Cadillac area. He worked for Barnes Construction and for Danville Construction as a carpenter. He was a self-employed carpenter in the area and worked on over 300 homes. He served his country in the US Army in World War II. He enjoyed painting pictures, fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
PFC Roy Devere Anderson died Monday 13 Apr 1998 at the age of 73 y 5 m 29 d at Mercy Hospital in Cadillac. Survivors included 3 sons; 3 daughters; 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers; and 1 sister. He is preceded in death by his wife, Delcie 15 Oct 1995; his parents, Walter 15 Dec 1973 & Helen; 1 sister, Gloria Lamb about 10 Jul 1988; 1 brother, Richard W Anderson; and 2 infant sons, Martin Anderson 25 Aug 1953 and Robert Lee Anderson 22 Jul 1961.
Visitation was 2-4 and 7-9 pm Wednesday 15 Apr 1998 at Peterson Funeral Home in Cadillac. Funeral services were 1:30 pm Thursday 16 Apr 1998 at Peterson Funeral Home with Rev Dennis Merchant and Rev Richard Telgenhoff officiating.
Burial was in Cherry GroveTownship Cemetery in Cadillac.
