Allie Byrd James, 102, of Moselle, died Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at her residence.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Jones & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Moselle with burial in Hickory Grove Cemetery in Laurel.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Jones & Son Funeral Home in Moselle, which is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on April 4, 1904, in the Pleasant Hill community in Greene County. She is the daughter of the late Jefferson Davis Byrd and Elizabeth Lavenia Hillman Byrd. She was married to the late Phillip James Sr. for 70 years. They had one child, Philip James Jr., who married the former Josephine Stanley. Out of their 70 years of marriage, 13 of these were spent in Waynesboro. In 1950, the family moved to Moselle. Mrs. James has spent her life as a teacher, housewife and working beside her late husband in their family business of farming. She has two grandchildren, Stan James and Deborah Campbell; five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She enjoyed attending church, spending time with her family, playing the piano, cooking and reading.
