"Lucky"

Age 84 of Newark, DE died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Saturday, September 10, 2005.

Lucky was born in Newton, NJ. He served in the United States Army from December 30, 1942 through January 18, 1946. Lucky received an American Service Award and medals for Asiatic-Pacific Service, Good Conduct, and World War II Victory. He started his working career at the Ralston Purina factory in Claymont. He was also employed by the Delaware Coach Co. and the Peds factory in Newport, DE. He finally retired from WILMAPCO in New Castle in 1983. Lucky's many interests included singing and playing music, horseracing, bowling, fishing, hunting, and playing golf. His greatest joy was spending time under the backyard maples with his family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Edith M. Gould, who passed away August 2, 2005. He is survived by 6 children and their spouses - Barbara "Maggie" and Stan Miller of Fair Hill, MA, James W. and Mary Gould of Woodstock, GA, Linda M. and Tom Cekine of New Castle, DE, Janet V. and Jim Moore of Denver, CO, Jenny Lee and John Ferguson of Hagerstown, MD, and Curtis A. and Amy Gould of Wilmington, DE. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; his brother,Gerald G. Gould and his wife, Bea, of Fort Pierce, FL; his half-brothers, Lee Conklin of Claymont, DE, "Bucky" Gould of Tarpon Springs, FL; and his half-sisters, Kay Conklin of Tarpon Springs, FL and Irene Gannon of Claymont, DE.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the DOHERTY FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek, on Wednesday morning, September 14, 2005, at 11 am. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, September 13, from 6-8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Veterans Administration Hospital, 1601 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19805; or to Disaster Relief, c/o the American Red Cross, 100 W. 10th St., Wilmington, DE 19801.
