Nancy Mitchell Williams, 82, died April 7, 2011 at Jackson County Memorial
Hospital, Altus, OK. She was born August 5, 1928 in Bolivar, TN to John and
Sarah Mitchell. She graduated from Bolivar High School where she was an
outstanding basketball player. She received her degree from Lambuth College,
Jackson, TN in 1951. Following graduation she was parks and recreation director
for the city of Jackson, TN until her marriage to Gene Williams in 1953. She
then began her teaching career as a physical education teacher and girls
basketball coach. In 1978, the family moved to southwest Oklahoma where they
lived for a few years on the farm southeast of Rocky before moving to Hobart.
For many years, she has been involved in various community activities. She
enjoyed being a substitute teacher, she served for a time as chair of the City
Beautiful Commission, was co-chair of the United Fund Drive for several years,
chaired the Arts on the Square for 20 years. Nancy served on several committees
as a member of the First United Methodist Church including youth director for a
number of years. She was very active in Shortgrass Playhouse where she served on
the Board of Directors and took leading roles in several productions and was
director of several others. At the time of her death she was still involved with
her community as a member of the board of Searchlight.

She is survived by her husband, Gene, of the home
her daughter, Gena Moore and husband Mark, Memphis, TN
3 grandchildren: Ashley Canady and husband Greg,
Mallory Moore, Glenn Moore
and 3 great-grandchildren: Ayden, Isabella and Kylie Canady
her brother, Dr. John L. Mitchell, Memphis, TN
and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Mitch Williams and her parents.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Shortgrass
Playhouse, Education Enrichment Fund or the charity of your choice.

The family will be greeting friends at the funeral home 7:00 p.m. to 9 p.m., on
Monday, April 11th.

Officiating: Rev. Kyle Clark

Burial will follow in the Hobart Rose Cemetery under the direction of Ray &
Martha's Funeral Home of Hobart, OK.
