Edward Start, an old resident of Elkhart, died at 12:30 o'clock this afternoon after an illness of eight days, of gastroenteritis. The deceased was 67 years of age, a widower and is survived by three sons.
The funeral service will occur tomorrow morning at 8:30 o'clock at the home of his son, Charles Start, 1000 Grant street where he died, and later in the day the remains will be taken to Burr Oak for interment. Edward Start was born in New York state and early in life came west. For many years he was employed on different railroads and followed this until about eight years ago when he bought a small piece of property in Vistula, Ind., and settled there. Later he came to Elkhart and made his home with his son. He was a survivor of the civil war and a member of one of the local posts.
