Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 8 Feb 1866 p2: "DIED---In this town [Dover], Jan. 4th, of consumption, Mrs. Lovina S. Ayer, wife of Mr. A. ? Ayer, aged 28 years and 10 months.

Her sufferings were long and painful ___ her death was the happy death of a christian. The deceased was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and was highly esteemed by those who knew her intimately, ___ firm, consistent, earnest christian woman. She was a devoted wife and mother, and was greatly beloved by a large circle of friends and relatives.

At first it seemed hard to leave her ___ family, but as the time drew near when she must take her departure, remembering the goodness of our Heavenly Father, she said, 'I am not afraid to die. My husband and my children I can trust with God. I trust myself with Him.'

When she was about entering the kingdom of eternal peace, the glory of the be__ land began to kindle up the pathway a___ which she must pass to the gates of the ___, and she exclaimed, 'I see the light of Heaven. It seemed very different from the ___ on earth.' The sun was nearing the western hills, as she added, 'What a peaceful night I shall have.' Then she desired some one to sing. A friend sang part of a hymn, 'Jesus my all to Heaven is gone.' She joined in singing the first verse, but could sing no more. With the singing the pain seemed to leave her, nor did she speak afterwards, __ underneath were the everlasting arms. B__ hope was in the Savior of sinners, and the sweet words of song---her last words---was the precious legacy that she has left her friends.

To her that way was very short, for as the evening shadows were falling, Jesus took her to himself."
