Mrs. Claas was born May 9, 1914 in Tipton, Mo. the daughter of Louis "Doc" and Sophia Schmitt Imhoff. On April 6, 1937 she married Richard J. Claas at St. Martin's Church near Pilot Grove, Mo.
She lived most of her life in the Tipton community. She was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, the Altar Society and Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Mrs. Claas worked as a seamstress at Tipton Pants Factor for more than thirty years. Following retirement from the pants factory, she worked a s a cook at St. Andrew's School. She also worked as a volunteer for the Red Cross blood bank and helped deliver meals on wheels in the community. She loved to play cards and quilt.
She is survived by one son, Donald Claas of St. Charles, Mo.; one daughter, Ruth Knipp of Tipton, Mo.; two brothers, John Imhoff of Blackwater, Mo. and Louis Imhoff, Jr. of Issaquah, Wash.; four sisters, Bertha Gerling, Blackwater, Mo., Anna Mae Bentlage, Jefferson City, Mo., Mary Helen Schuster, Nevada, Mo. and Clara "Tooter" Knipp, Tipton, Mo.; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Frank Imhoff.
The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Andrew's Church or Cemetery or the American Cancer Society.
