Charles is the brother of Tom jr. and John, the son of Tom Sr. and and Martha Morgan Power. He left the family and lived on his own. Really, he was completely separate from them, never communicating. He lys in a paupers grave in this cemetery. Nancy E. (Place) Brown contributed an wonderful written dialogue.

Good evening,

It has been so cold here today. It was 0 degrees when we got up at 6 am and never got over 32 all day. I went to Springerville with my daughter and her husband to see the chiropractor and it was cold over there too. I got my back hurt back in the 90's, (two fractured vertebras and a crushed disc in a horse accident) and it gives me fits when it gets cold; arthritis, I presume. Mayo clinic told me there was nothing they could do for it, that I'd just have to learn to live with it. I try to ignore it and do the things I want to do. I don't ride a horse anymore, but I have gone to a Honda 4 wheeler. I have ridden it about ten years and love to ride it.

You mentioned riding your motorcycle. My son just bought a new Kawasaki and my son in law has a new Harley. My son has had motorcycles off and on for years. They both love to ride. Does your wife ride with you? My daughter is scared of them and doesn't enjoy riding.

I am glad you enjoyed the info on the Morgan's. Now it is YOU that is going to add Martha and Charles. You had this story going when I happened along and butted in. I do not want to steal your thunder. I just wanted to help you with a little of the history.

Martha is not in a cemetery. It is just a lone grave at the end of a field on the old Dominguez farm in Gila, New Mexico. I am new to FAG, so I don't know how you go about adding a grave that is not in a cemetery. When I have tried to do it, says I need cemetery name. Good Grief, I guess they think everyone lives in a city!

I have a magazine that an old man gave me that has the story of the Power family . I know I still have it, but where? I have scads of stuff upstairs, so I guess I'll have to take a heater up there and stay until I find it. This old man who gave me the book, knew Charles real well. He told me that Charles had lost both his son and daughter in WWII. I don't know where they are buried and I don't know what their given names were. I have not been able to find a wife for Charles, but she evidently died somewhere. The old man told me that Charles had lost an arm in a sawmill accident. My daughter found his WW1 draft card and he was living in Reserve at the time, working for a man named Kiehne. On his draft card he put John and Jeff Power as his nearest relatives and wrote in, "both convicts". Can you imagine that? He never had anything to do with his family after he left the Galiuro Mountains, never even went to his brother's trial, so I guess he got what he deserved. He ended up in an unmarked paupers grave.

I am attaching two pics of the old Hot Springs cemetery where Charles is buried. I made an X on the picture right where the man pointed out that Charles was buried. The mortician who furnished the grave and buried the old man is now dead and we were lucky to find the guy who knew about where his bones are.

I'd love to find a photo of all the Power family members, but I imagine that is asking too much. If you should go to Florence to the cemetery to see Tom Sisson's grave, you should also go to the museum too. That is where I got to copy the prison records. I was surprised that they let me take pictures, but all they asked is that I not use a flash.
