Karl August Andreason (Americanized to Carl August Anderson) was the son of Andreas Nilson Andreasen and Maren Olava Christophersdatter. He had two younger sisters, Anna and Sophia. In 1897, his family emigrated to America, settling in Norden, Deuel County, South Dakota.
On March 20, 1899, Carl married Amanda Josephine Peterson. His sister, Anna, had married Amanda's brother, Carl Peterson, five years before. The Petersons were also Norwegian immigrants who settled in Deuel County, South Dakota.
Carl and Amanda's first two daughters, Helga and Alette, were born in South Dakota, but they soon moved to Latah County, Idaho, where their next three daughters were born. The family moved to Pondera County, Montana, where their sixth child was born in 1920. Sadly, he lived only a few months. Amanda died in Montana in 1927, and the following year Carl and the youngest daughter, Bertha, moved back to Latah County, Idaho.
25 Year Resident Dies
Carl Anderson, 80, whose home was at 530 North Adams, died last night. He was born August 17, 1872, in Holmes Stand, Norway, and had lived here 25 years. He was a charter member of Our Savior's Lutheran church.
He leaves five daughters, Mrs. Emory (Helga) Dunn, Mrs. Glen (Norma) Spence, Mrs. Delbert (Bertha) Dunn of Moscow, Mrs. Pearl Anderson and Miss Alette Anderson of Longview, Wash.; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Short's chapel, the Rev. Harold Masted to officiate. Burial will be Moscow cemetery. The Daily Idahoian, March 10, 1953
