Jeffrey Edward Petersen, 58, of Twin Falls, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at his home in Twin Falls after a valiant fight with prostate cancer.

Jeff was born Oct. 13, 1949, in Brigham City, Utah, the son and second of eight children born to Percy Edward and Inez Grey Petersen. He was voted the Most Beautiful Baby in Brigham City.

In his youth, he was very talented in baseball. He made the All-Star team from ages 9 to 16. He also excelled in track, specifically high jumping. Jeff graduated from Box Elder High School in 1968.

As Jeff got older, he developed his musical talents. He was an excellent musician, skilled in piano, six strings, bass guitar and harmonica. He started two different bands, "Ocean" and "The Other Guys." For College, Jeff attended Weber State for two years and, in 1970, moved to Twin Falls to join his brother, Keith, and started in the business of general contracting. Jeff loved to build and has worked here in the Magic Valley for 38 years.

Some of his other interests included golf, fishing, and spending time in the mountains. In 1985, Jeff met Chris Welton, and they have been partners ever since. Jeff helped raise Chris' son, Ronnie, and has been the proud grandfather of Ronnie's children, Taylor and Rylee. Jeff's greatest qualities lay in his love for people, his forgiving nature and his soft-hearted ways.

Jeff is survived by Chris Welton of Twin Falls; brother, Kim Petersen of Brigham City, Utah; brothers, Keith (Geri) Petersen, Evan (Linda) Petersen and Roland (Charm) Petersen, all of Twin Falls; sister, Reesa (Fred) James of Lincoln, Neb.; sister, Peggy (Doug) Wheelwright of Ogden, Utah; Chris' son, Ronnie Welton of Twin Falls, and his children, Taylor and Rylee Welton. Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Ronald (Roland's twin).
