His wife, Susan Queen Adkins, five brothers, Edward "Bug" Adkins, Hatten Adkins, Harmon Adkins, Glen Roy Adkins and Seburn Workman, and three sisters, Hanna Adkins Clark, Zona, and Ada Beatrice preceeded him in death.
Survivors include three sons, Doug Adkins and wife, Joyce, and Clifton Adkins, all of Wayne, West Virginia, and Wilburn Adkins and wife, Patty of Lavalette, West Virginia; a step-daughter, Billy Sue Malar of Cleveland, Ohio; three brothers, N. P. Adkins, Clyde Adkins, and Clifford Adkins; two sisters, Mary Cooper and Janie Watts; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren as well as many friends at Charter House and church.
