In January 1945, he married Annie Vesper Carter, and she moved with him to California. He died as the result of an explosion of the equipment he was working on at the base in California on April 26, 1945. He is buried at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Section, AL. His wife was Annie is buried beside him.
