Donald Arthur Newton, 71, of Nelsonville, passed away, Monday, December 3, 2007 at Riverside Hospital, Columbus. He was born June 14, 1936 in Nelsonville, son of the late Lawrence and Letha McMannis Newton.
Don was a graduate of Nelsonville High School and retired from the Ohio University Police Department. He was a member of Mingo Lodge #171 Free and Accepted Masons in Logan Ohio, Shriner of the Aladdin Shrine, Columbus, and was Past Master (1998) of Philodorian Lodge #157 of Nelsonville Ohio. Member of Logan Moose Lodge #873 , Logan Amvets Post 1776, Nelsonville Eagles Aerie #391 and Nelsonville Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #543 and numerous other local organizations
He is survived by 2 sons, a daughter and seven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and a sister.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Gloria Lott and Marilyn Newton who passed away as a child.
