Opal was the second of five children born to Howard and Mattie Todd. She married her husband, Dallas Travis Brashier on October 5, 1946 and they had five children. We used to say they raised three families. Phyllis Jeanne was born on December 9, 1947 in Camden, Arkansas and Belinda Gail was born on February 9, 1949 in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was more than 5 years before Donna Sue was born on December 13, 1954 followed by Dennis Todd on January 15, 1956 and both were born in Malvern, Arkansas. After ten years Michael DeWayne was born on July 17, 1966 in Ontario, California. If there was ever a sweeter, kinder person than Opal, I can't imagine who it might be. She was never heard to say an unkind word about anyone or meet anyone she didn't like. She was so even tempered and never known to be angry. She raised her children to be very much like her and her family was everything to her. The old cliché, the good die young, was made for Opal. She developed cancer and suffered a great deal before and died before she reached the age of 48. She is missed every day by her children and her surviving siblings.
