From Report of the Adjutant General of the State of Maine: George Gordon, enlisted at age 19, birthdate abt 1842, resident of Ellsworth, Maine, enlisted & mustered in 7 Sep 1861 in Maine as a Private in the Union, Company G 8th Infantry, mustered out 18 Jan 1866, survived the war.

Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 25 Apr 1878 p2: "MARRIED---In Monson, Mar. 11th, by R. W. Emerson, Mr. George Gordon and Miss Susie E. Cushman."
