Abilene, Texas - Ernestine Scott Brannom, of Abilene, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2007, at the age of 74.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, November 19, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, 5701 Highway 277 South. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Ernestine was born June 13, 1933, in Abilene, Texas, to Thomas Grogan Scott and Oleta (Waller) Scott. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1951 and has been a lifelong resident of Abilene. She married Dr. Dale B. Brannom, who preceded her in death November 26, 2003. Ernestine worked as an office manager for Dr. Marco Eugnio, Dr. Orlan Aikin, and Radiology Associates. She also worked as an operating room technician at Hendrick Medical Center.

Ernestine was an active member of the Taylor-Jones-Haskell County Medical Society Ladies Auxiliary. She was also an active supporter of the Ben Ritchey Boys Ranch. Earnestine was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

Preceding Ernestine in death were her parents, one brother, Thomas Earl "Tommy" Scott, and her husband. She is survived by one daughter, Jan Smith, of Abilene; one son, David Brannom, of Florida; one sister-in-law, Carole Scott, of Richardson; two granddaughters, Ann Marie Reeves and her husband Nick, of Lubbock, and Allison Brannom Richardson and her husband Jarret, of College Station; two great-granddaughters, Julianne and Zoey Reeves; one niece, Julie Cox and her husband Chris, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Julie's children, Simon and Emilia Cox. Ernestine is also survived by her caregiver, Patty Bowen.

Nick Reeves, Jarret Richardson, David Smith, Kolby Richardson, Sam Box, and Larry Coe will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made in honor of Ernestine to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory Street, Abilene, Texas 79601; the Ben Richey Boys Ranch, 501 Ben Richey Drive, Abilene, Texas 79602; or to the Susan G. Komen For The Cure Foundation, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Ste. 250, Dallas, Texas, 75244.
