OBITUARY: Pioneer Resident, Jas. McGuigan, dies. Was Brother of Former Mayor and City Clerk-Funeral Saturday. The fast thinning ranks of the pioneer residents of Vancouver have been further depleted by the death of a well known and highly respected citizen in the person of Mr. James McGuigan, who passed away at the family residence, 3007 Quebec street on Wednesday, at the age of 63. Born at Stratford, Ont. Mr. McGuigan came to Vancouver more than thirty years ago and witnessed the development of the place from a small cluster of buildings to the status of the fourth city of Canada. His family was closely associated with the early history and development of Vancouver, Dr. W.J. McGuigan, a brother having occupied the mayoral chair and for many years filled the important post of coroner, while Thomas F. another brother, was first city clerk, a position which he retained for a quarter of a century. The former mayor and T.F. McGuigan have been dead for some years. The late James McGuigan early entered the service of the B.C. E. Ry. and occupied many important positions with that company at one time being manager of the Lulu Island branch line. He is survived by a wife and six children, all of whom reside in Vancouver. The children are Miss Eleanor and William, Charles, James, Daniel and Tomas. The funeral will be held on Saturday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Patrick's Church, Rev. Father Fortier officiating. The remains are resting at Kearney's undertaking parlors.
