The following obituary appeared in a newspaper at the time of Christena's death:
Gone to Her Reward
Mrs. Christine (spelling different on gravestone) Meyers Ellinger died this morning of old age at the home of her son Geo. (George) W. Ellinger on "Hill Top Farm," west of the city (Pana, Illinois) limits. Mrs. Ellinger was born in Berks County, Pa., Jan. 22, 1816, and died Feb. 14, 1899, aged 83 years and 22 days. In 1836 in her native town she was married to Geo. (George) Ellinger, who died in Terre Haute, Ind. in 1885. She was the mother of eleven children, one daughter and ten sons, seven of whom are now living, viz (?) Mrs. Wm. (William) Pierce (spelled wrong--should be Pearse), of Ohlman, Mahlon and William of Kansas, Robert and Jacob, of Terre Haute, Ind., Francis and George, of Pana.
She had forty-four grand children and nine great grand children.
At the age of 16 she united with the Presbyterian church in her native town, and has lived a christian life, a quiet modest, faithful friend and mother.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at half-past one o'clock at the residence of Rev. E.W. Clarke (?) who will officiate.
