Lucy was the daughter of Hyrum King Elmer and Lucinda Elmer; She arrived with her family in Utah in 1852 with the Uriah Curtis Company. She married Richard Spencer, Jr. on July 4, 1858. After his death she married his brother John Henry Spencer on October 7, 1860. Lucy was the mother to: Richard Henry, Mary Lucinda, Cynthia Alice, George Francis, Lydia Ann, Lovina Arsula, Eliza Amelia, Elmer Burt and Lettie Aurura.
