He was born February 8th, 1908, in Sparta, Kentucky, the son of William and Angela (McCreary) Wagner. he was a retired farmer and carpenter. He attended Grants Creek Baptist Church and was a member of Carpenters Local 1142 at Lawrenceburg. On May 1st, 1929, he married Pauline "Polly" Wilson who died january 24th, 1973.
Survivors include his daughters, Irene Walcott, Virginia Devers, Patricia Courter, and Pamela Courter, all of Patriot, Wanda Washnock of Aurora, Reby Murphy of Greendale, and Sharon Smith of Indianapolis; his sons, Robert "Sonny" Wagner of Vevay and Wayne Wagner of Rising Sun; his brothers, Herbert Wagner of Cincinnati and Thomas Wagner of Rushville; his sister, Mattie Russel of Batavia, Ohio; 33 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; his son Raymond Leon Wagner in 1950; his brothers Wlater, William, Lawrence, Eddie, and Bartie Wagner; his sisters, Sally Peters, Anna Berkley, and Inez Bales, and two grandchildren.
