JAY EDWARDS

Mr. Jay Edwards, age 62 of Pipe Creek, died Thursday, Jan. 27 in San Antonio. He was born Sept. 6, 1941 in San Antonio, to Jesse Berthal Edwards, III and Helen Callahan Edwards.

Jay taught school at Nordheim and Judson Schools, then decided to go into the family construction business. He was very interested in history, was the co-author of the Bandera County History Book, a very active member of Boerne Baptist Church, and was a member of a missions group that built many homes in Mexico. He was also a very gifted artist.

Survivors include his parents, J.B. and Helen Edwards of Pipe Creek; two sons, Davis Edwards and wife, Jennifer of Kyle, TX and Jess Edwards and wife, Niki of Pipe Creek; two sisters, Jane Turner of Pipe Creek and Jeanene Mansfield and husband, Keith of Pipe Creek; granddaughter, Jordan Edwards and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held Friday, Jan. 30 at Grimes Chapel in Bandera, with Rev. Mike Meadows officiating. Interment followed in Pipe Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Keith Mansfield, Brent Mansfield, Bo Mansfield, Bill Bowie, Coke Turner and Kenny Carter. Donations may be made to the Hill Country Animal League, 115 W. Bandera Rd., Boerne, TX. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapel of Bandera.
