[While I have found that the Hale index does include the information which seems to be corroborated by the tombstone, I have also found newspaper references for the same time period, the earliest being from an article Dec. 20, 1847, which states: "Nodine, Mr. Frederick, Kent, Ct., 12 Dec., 1847, who, had he lived till the 25, would have been 100 years old." from the New York Evening Post. This places the date of birth for Frederick Nodine as 25 Dec 1747 with date of death 12 Dec 1847. There does not appear to be another Frederick Nodine in Litchfield County, Connecticut of the same generation as the memorial and it is assumed that the date on the tombstone is suspect. Since the newspaper article pre-dates the tombstone date by several months, it could be assumed that the newspaper article is more accurate and the tombstone came at some point after.
