Elizabeth Irene Kennedy, 85 years old of Springfield, Louisiana passed peacefully away on Sunday, January 31, 2021. She was born on January 7, 1936 to Melvin and Mary Richardson, in Springfield, Louisiana. Irene loved sharing her life with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved to cook, try new recipes, tending to her flowers, red velvet cake and Dairy Queen ice cream.
Irene is survived by five children: Donna (Phyllis Picard-Staton) Kennedy, Mark Kennedy, Brenda (Rick) Thielen, James Kennedy, Dan (Amy) Kennedy, her grandchildren Clint McCann, Craig, Amanda, Jesse Kennedy, Rebecca Mueller, Stacey Thielen, Damon Kennedy, Veronica Vaclavicek, Chloe Kennedy, Andrew and Joshua Kennedy and 8 great grandchildren. Also, survived by son in law, Tom McCann, two sisters, Ophelia Fray and Bea Simon, one brother Douglas Richardson and numerous nieces and nephews. Billie and Irene never met anyone who they did not consider family. They have an extended family of many children which they kept through the years.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Mary (Bazille) Richardson, husband of 63 years Pastor Billie Kennedy, oldest daughter Laurie McCann, and two sisters Betty Bauerle and Lorraine Lard.
Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 100 W. Magnolia St., Ponchatoula, Louisiana 70454 on Friday, February 5, 2021 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, with Pastor Dan Landry officiating.
Interment will follow at Carter Cemetery in Springfield, Louisiana.
