OBITUARY
Leslie John Burrup, 68, 787 Willard, died Saturday enroute to the hospital following an apparent heart attack.
He was born November 23, 1904 at Downey, Idaho, the son of William and Hannah M. Byington Burrup. He attended school at Downey and graduated from Brigham Young University at Logan, Utah.

He married Hazel Bennett in the Logan LDS Temple on Jul 31, 1935 and they made their home at Downey until 1960 when they came to Pocatello. Mr. Burrup was a carman for Pacific Fruit Express.

He was currently serving as a Bishop of the Pocatello 24th ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had also served as bishop of the Grant ward form 1932 until 1945. For 12 years he was a high councilman in the Portneuf Stake and had spent eight years in the Alameda Stake and had filled a mission in the Central States and served in several other capacities in the church.

He enjoyed sports, gardening and genealogy work.
Survivors include his wife of Pocatello; two sons, Mont L., Kensington, MD and Doyle W. Burrup, Galena, AK; four daughters, Mrs. Hope Haymore, Willows, CA; Mrs. DeAnn Egbert, Marshall, AR; Mrs. Theil :(JoAnn) Kunz, Clearfield, UT and Mrs. Ken (MyraLee) Nelson, Pocatello; three sisters, Mrs. Isaac (Zina) Barnes and Lula Anderson, both of Downey and Mrs. Vivian Symons, Provo, UT; 18 grandchildren and 1 foster grandchild. A son, Lon R. died in 1959. Two grandchildren also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the LDS 24th ward chapel at 930 East Alameda Road with Stephen Frazier, counselor in the bishopric, officiating. Burial will be in the Downey Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Manning Funeral Chapel. Should friends desire, contributions in Bishop Burrup's memory may be made to the Primary Children's Hospital.
