Robert Benford Ashe, 78, of Strayhorn, died Thursday, March 22, 2001 at his residence. Mr. Ashe was a retired farmer, an Army veteran of WW II, a mason for 49 years and a member of Strayhorn Baptist Church where he was a deacon for 40 years. Services were held Saturday, March 24 at Strayhorn Baptist Church with interment in Bethesda Cemetery in Senatobia, MS. Pallbearers were David Laughlin, Tommy Rhodes, Jerry Barrett, Ronnie Smith, Jackie King and James Rhodes. Rev. Gary Black officiated.

Mr. Ashe was preceded in death by his son, Danny Ashe. He is survived by his wife, Byrlie Ashe; one son, Sammy Ashe of Strayhorn, MS; His mother, Katie Ashe of Strayhorn; one sister, Laura Laughlin of Calhoun City, MS; two brothers, Howard Ashe of Bakersfield, CA and Harvey Ashe of Tunica, MS; three grandsons; and one great-grandson.
