Allen L. "Al" Amend, 91, passed away October 1, 2007. He was born January 4, 1916 in Bonner Springs, Kansas. He moved with his family to Glendale, Arizona when he was 2 years old. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII (1941-1945) in the European Theater
where he attained the rank of Major. He married Virginia Alloway on August 1, 1943. They moved to Phoenix, where they raised 2 children. Al purchased Adroit Supply Company in 1960 and guided it to one of the top industrial supply businesses in Arizona until 1995 when he sold the company to spend more time golfing, traveling and being with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia. He is survived by his daughter, Adair; son, Steve; daughter-in-law; Kathy, grandchildren; Scott and Brianne and great grandson Brody. The family expresses their gratitude to Hospice of the Valley and the Beatitudes Campus for their compassionate care of Al in his final days. Respecting Al's wishes, no services will be held. The family requests contributions be made in his memory to the Beatitudes Campus, 1610 W. Glendale Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85021.
