Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Decaturville Methodist Church with Rev. Hugh H. Jones officiating for Allyn H. Claiborne, who passed away at Lebanon on Friday evening about 8 o'clock. Interment was in the Claiborne Family Cemetery.
Allyn H. Claiborne, son of William F. and Sarah E. Claiborne was born near Decaturville, Missouri, on January 3, 1886 and passed away at Lebanon, Missouri, on November 22, 1957.
He received his education in the public school at Decaturville and at Morrisville College. After finishing college, he was associated with the mercantile firm of Darrow and Claiborne at Decaturville. Later he became Postmaster and served the Decaturville community for forty-two years, retiring in 1947.
At one time he was an active member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Linn Creek. He was also a member of the Modern Woodman of America, serving as secretary for a number of years.
He leaves one brother, Homer B.l Claiborne of Decaturville, four sisters: Misses Estelle D. and Edith Claiborne of Decaturville; Mrs. Ethel Collier of Laramie, Wyoming; and Mrs. Aura C. Esther of Linn Creek; many nieces and nephes and a host of friends.
