at age 80, after a prolonged illness. He was predeceased by his wives, Jean and Mary Pat. Surviving are his children, Elizabeth, Robert, David (Anna) and Fritz Roemer, Theresa (Richard) Lipsky, Michael (Susan), Daniel (Susan) and John Macpherson; his brothers, Frederick, Edward and sister-in-law, Diane; beloved Papa of 11 grandchildren. He was a devoted lifelong volunteer fireman, including being the captain of Hose 4 in Freeport, NY, and one of the founders of the Bracey, VA, volunteer department. He worked for 40 years at Grumman Aerospace. He was the proud recipient of one of the first 10 Grumman scholarships in 1944, then worked as engineer manager on the F14 for many years and eventually became the program director of the F14 and the X29. Calling hours on Sunday, October 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Butler-Badman, located at 4504 W. Seneca Tpke., Syracuse, NY. Service to be held Monday, October 8, at 10 a.m. at Butler-Badman. Donations to be sent to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (donate.michaeljfox.org) or your local volunteer fire department.
