Donald F. Miller, 69, died Sunday, October 29, 1989, at his Benton Township home after an extended illness. He was born April 5, 1920, in Low Point Illinois, the son of Frank and Mary Miller.
On January 30, 1946, he married the former Mary Henderson in Marion, Indiana. Mr. Miller was an electrician with Fisher Body at the Livonia plant, retiring in August, 1985. The Millers had been vacationing in the Cheboygan area since 1971, and they moved to their Benton Township Home following his retirement. Mr. Miller was a member of Wayne Lodge #122 of Free and accepted Masons, and member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of the Valley of Detroit.
He is survived by his wife, Mary and three brothers, Lewis Miller and Carl Miller both of Marion, and and Charles Miller of Anderson, Indiana; one brother Earl Miller preceded him in death. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Don was drafted into the army and went to the pacific. When he returned home he went back to the Illinois area and finally to Marion where his parents lived. When he went to Illinois he met Mary Henderson and fell in love.
According to phone interview of Mary Henderson Miller ( December, 2000) she said that he had invited her up for a visit. She was very indifferent and thought why not. When she came to Marion, she discovered Don had planned a wedding. He had never asked her to marry him and had no idea he had this planned. They had only had a couple of dates. She said she never really expected to get married. I asked her why she married him and she said she thought " Why not?"
They moved to Illinois when Donald was looking for work. He ended up buying a house and running a mobile home park and an ice house business. Eventually his brother, Earl suggested he moved to Detroit Michigan and become an electrician. He spent the rest of his work life as an electrican.
