Her family and religion were the most important things to Lottie Boehler. She also liked to sew, crochet, quit and read. She was a helpmate to her husband who was a carpenter, finishing woodwork in the houses he built and also doing the bookkeeping for the business.

Lottie Ella (Ellwein) Boehler of Gillette, Wyo. and formerly of Timber Lake died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007 at her home in Gillette.. She was 92 years old.

Lottie was born Nov. 13, 1914 on a farm five miles west of Hosmer to Ben and Philippina (Miller) Ellwein. She attended a small country school there until she was 12 when she moved with her family west of the Missouri River to a farm 10 miles south of Firesteel. She finished grade school at the Cundill School and attended three years of high school at Firesteel. She completed her last year at Selby High School, graduating as Salutatorian in 1933.

On Nov. 21, 1937 she married Philip Boehler at Peace Lutheran Church in Isabel. The couple settled at LaPlant and in 1943, after the attack on Pearl Harbor, moved to Tacoma, Wash. The following year they moved back to a small farm near LaPlant where they lived until 1959 when they moved to Timber Lake.

In 1994, Lottie moved to Belle Fourche to be near family and in 1996 she moved to Gillette, where her daughter Frances lives. She resided at Pioneer Manor Apartments until her death.

Lottie was an active member and served with the Ladies Aids of the churches she attended. She was a member of Extension clubs in Timber Lake and Isabel for 47 years and was also a member of the Garden Club, Embroidery Club, Jet Set and the Birthday Club, serving as officers for these clubs many times over the years. She felt this was a way to help her community and to meet the people who were a part of it.

Lottie was an avid reader and served as the substitute librarian at the Timber Lake Library for several years. In later years she was an active member of the Timber Lake Senior Citizens and served on the Board of Directors of the North Central Senior Services for 12 years.
