Lyle Clinton, 71, died Tuesday, September 8, at Manning, Iowa. Burial was at the Vail Cemetery. Casket bearers were Kraig Kitt, Kevin Kitt, Chad Clinton, Keith Babcock, Randy Clinton and Reggie Clinton.

Born October 16, 1915, at Buck Grove, Iowa he was a son of Thomas A and Augusta Victoria Kahl Clinton. He lived in Crawford and Sac counties in Iowa most of his life and attended rural schools. He worked as a herdsman for dairy farms and raised quarter horses. The last several years he had lived in Springfield, Mo., before he returned to Iowa two weeks ago. On November 28, 1937, he married Edith Ellis at Early.

Survivors include his wife, Edith; a son, Bill; daughters, Trellis, Jolene, Kathy, and Mary; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Francis Clinton; two brothers, Floyd and Richard Clinton; and two daughters, Karen in infancy and Michelle at age 11.

From Lyle's autobiography - "When I was a little boy I always wanted a calf and often cried because I had none. Mother said I would never get one that way, so I worked and every cent I earned I saved." Finally I got a calf and joined 4H.
