Eldon Dwight “Ike” Lanham passed away at home, surrounded by his children, Friday, March 10, 2017. Services will be 11:00 am Monday, March 13, 2017 at Bellmead Funeral Home. Visitation will precede the service at 10am. Burial will be at China Spring Cemetery.

Ike was born at home on April 23, 1933 in Cisco, TX to Herman Dwight and Winona (Scarlett) Lanham. He was the 3rd of 11 children and the oldest son in the Lanham family.

He worked as a newspaper pressman at Abilene Reporter News where he met his sweetheart, Donna Faye McNiel. They were married on June 16, 1970. He retired from Waco Tribune Herald. Ike, affectionately known as “Dite” to his nephews and nieces, was a devoted family man. He loved spending time with his family, fishing with his brothers, especially the boys fishing trip, and playing dominoes.

He taught his kids about working hard, being honest, and being faithful to his family. He was always there during the good times and bad. He was Dad, Grandad, Pa and uncle Dite. He was raised in the Lutheran Church but joined the church of Christ with his wife.

He was preceded in death by his beloved, Donna Faye, his parents, and 8 of his siblings.

He is survived by 2 brothers, Jim Lanham and Mike Lanham, both of Abilene, daughter Donn Teague and her husband Rick of Benbrook; daughter Amy White and her husband Gordon of Jersey Village; son and faithful caregiver, Jeff Lanham of Waco; son, Jason Lanham and his wife Alice of Clyde, and daughter, Amanda Long and her husband Rick of Celeste, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are sons, Jeff and Jason Lanham and grandsons, Josh Williams, Jared Nevill, Dagan Lanham, and Brice Towles
