Funeral Service for Mae E. Fryer, 93 of Sisseton, SD was held on Monday, September 10, 2007 at Peever Lutheran Church, Peever, SD with Rev. Steve Moberg officiating. Pallbearers were Jeff Fryer, Jon Fryer, Brian Sundstrom, Galen Cardwell, Christopher Lunde and Neil Vig. Interment was in the Wilmot Community Cemetery, Wilmot, SD. The Cahill Funeral Chapel of Sisseton, SD was in charge of arrangements.

Mae Elizabeth Fitz was born May 1, 1914 in rural Wilmot, SD to Herman and Cora (Wright) Fitz. She was baptized into the Catholic faith in 1914. On December 3, 1961 she was confirmed into the Lutheran Faith at Peever Lutheran Church. Mae attended many schools in South Dakota and Minnesota. She graduated from the eighth grade at Spring Grove Township country school. She worked at Peever Public School, Peever Lutheran Church, Dacotah Inc., and for the Green Thumb Program. She also was a certified child care provider. In 1967 she attended Minot College and became an assistant Head Start Teacher.

Mae was united in marriage to Roy G. Fryer on September 20, 1933 in Sisseton, SD at the Presbyterian Chancery. The couple lived on numerous farms in Roberts County. In 1960 the couple moved to Peever. Roy passed away in July of 1968. Mae lived in Peever until August of 1993 when she moved into the High Rise Apartments in Sisseton. She entered the Tekakwitha Living Center in December 2006.

She was a member of Peever Lutheran Church and was an active member of RSVP.

She enjoyed playing cards, the Aggravation marble board game and watching car races--especially her favorite driver Tony Stewart. She liked to visit all her family and friends. She was a very loving and giving person.

Mae passed away on September 5, 2007 at the Tekakwitha Nursing Center, Sisseton, SD.

Mae is survived by two daughters, Vera Majesty of Cottage Grove, MN, and Verla Sundstrom of Webster, SD; four sons, Vern Fryer of Milbank, SD, Darold (Barb) Fryer of Sisseton, SD, Norman (Sandy) Fryer of Browns Valley, MN, and Harold (Janet) Fryer of Peever, SD; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Mae was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; four brothers; four sisters; one daughter-in-law, Mary Lou; two sons-in-law, Byron Sundstrom and Giles Majesty; and one granddaughter, Wendy Fryer.
