Sinclair and 57 other Commonwealth prisoners of war) after the Italian Armistice when a prisoner of war train was bombed at Aquila station by aircraft from 321st Bombardment Group (Medium), United States Army Air Force.

Originally buried at Aquila, his remains were reinterred on 23 February 1945 at Ancona War Cemetery, Italy.
