....A Beaver County Cemetery Record pub 1971 found on Ancestry.com says "Wife of Capt Samuel Smith, d 3 Sep 1831, age 43 years". Her date of birth calculates to 1788 which is 18 years older than Capt Samuel Smith who was born about 1806. Further making it difficult for Rachel to be the wife of Capt Smith is a marriage record for Samuel Smith and N. Beaver or Narcissa Bever niece of pioneer Ohio surveyor, John Bever. Their marriage is dated 22 Apr 1830 and according to census their first child was born in 1831. Therefore, casting doubt on the 1971 cemetery record.
...There is a Samuel J Smith b 1784 buried in this cemetery but omitted in the 1971 record.. Genealogies report he married Mary Rachel Todd who died between 1830 and 1840. This Rachel could be his wife.
....Another cemetery record published 1968 by the Georgetown Cemetery Maintenance Association makes no claim that Rachel is w/o "Capt Samuel Smith" nor does it give her age as does the record above. This record gives her exact date of birth and death and includes "Wife of Samuel". Dates from the 1968 record have been added to this memorial. Samuel J Smith IS mentioned in the 1968 record and is buried in the grave next to her. He was born 1784 and died 23 Jan 1856 "Son of Thomas".
.....Many genealogists assume the Rachel buried here is in fact Mary Rachel Todd, the wife of Samuel J Smith.
