Her date of birth calculates to 1788 which is 18 years older than Capt Samuel Smith who was born about 1806. Further making it difficult for Rachel to be the wife of Capt Smith is a marriage record for Samuel Smith and N. Beaver or Narcissa Bever niece of pioneer Ohio surveyor, John Bever. Their marriage is dated 22 Apr 1830 and according to census their first child was born in 1831. Therefore, casting doubt on the 1971 cemetery record.
