The son of John and Mary Clegg, he was a native of Fort Worth.
A resident of the Beaumont area since 1952, he retired from Allied Chemical in Orange as a instrument and electrical supervisor and from the Beaumont Independent School District as a vocational industrial arts teacher. Harley was a Scout Master for Troop #205 B.S.A. for twenty years.
He was survived by his wife Gladys Clegg; daughter, Cindy Nicklebur and her husband John; sons, Steve Clegg and wife Theresa and Thomas Harley Clegg; grandchildren, Lara Nicklebur Lee and her husband Dr. John Lee, Dr. Scott Nicklebur and his wife Kathy, Capt. Travis Clegg and wife Jennifer and Trevor Harley Clegg; great grandchildren, Patrick, Katy and Jason Lee, Maggie and Max Nicklebur and Madison Clegg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
